Hi There! My name is Ms. Amy, and I am currently a third grade teacher at Drake Elementary in the city! I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and I love cheese. I graduated in 2019 with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Carroll University (near Milwaukee). I wanted to become a teacher as long as I can remember - teachers played an integral part in my life, and I love being able to make the same impact in my classroom.
Upon graduation, I accepted a position teaching 3rd grade in Green Bay.
I moved to Chicago in August 2022 because of my love for the big city. I was hired as a 3rd grade teacher again at Drake Elementary. During my three years there, I built strong relationships with students and developed my craft as a teacher. After school, you might find me out for a walk, curled up with the book, or exploring all the city has to offer!
In my classroom, a quote from Mahatma Gandhi reads, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." I firmly believe in the power of education and the avenues paved by hard-working teachers who influence an ever-changing world. In my four years of teaching, I have seen many students reach "light bulb" moments. I will cheer every student to the finish line if it takes them two days or two months to grasp a new concept. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing that spark in a student's eye and watching them gain more confidence in their skills. I strive to stay informed on new practices and teaching strategies as a teacher. My motto is "Never stop learning!" Truthfully I learn something new every day. I am excited to join JAM Teaching and extend my enthusiasm for learning beyond the walls of my classroom.
