Hey there! My name is Ms. Ellen, and I have been a teacher for 7 years! I’ve taught in Cincinnati and Nashville but grew up in a northern suburb of Chicago called Northbrook. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati in 2015 before earning my K-12 Reading Endorsement in 2016. I taught 3rd grade in Cincinnati for 3 years before moving down to Nashville and taught 3rd grade for 3 years there too! In 2021, I earned my Master’s of Educational Leadership through the University of Cincinnati. Most recently, I taught at a private school in Cincinnati for students with learning disabilities, mainly dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD.
One thing you should know about me as a teacher and tutor is I believe your child’s mindset is as important as any academic skill they will learn. One mindset that is always present in my classroom is “We can do hard things!” When I work with your student, you can be assured that this will be prevalent in our sessions together. We will celebrate strengths and progress and make a plan to address learning goals. Your child will be invested in these goals so they can understand the “why” of how our time is being spent and can take ownership over their learning. My goal is for your student to feel I am a cheerleader for them in their successes and a resource to teach them new tools to add to their toolbox.
In my free time, you can find me reading, taking walks through Cincinnati’s great parks with friends, finding ways to serve at my church, and exploring Cincinnati’s excellent food scene!
I’m so excited to be a part of the JAM team and have the opportunity to support your student in their learning goals!
