Hi! My name is Katie and I’m a K-5th Reading and Math Interventionist for Park Ridge School District. I’m also a former 2nd grade teacher. I graduated from Northcentral University, in AZ, with a BA in Elementary Education. I lived in Arizona for 15 years, where I got my feet wet in teaching by assisting in a SPED program at a Title I school.
I discovered my love for teaching while working at an NGO as an English teacher in Arequipa, Peru.
It was in South America that I realized my passion for teaching! I love being in the classroom and helping students learn and explore their unique talents. Every student has something to teach you! I believe that the best way students learn is through sharing ideas and collaborating with each other.
I live in Norwood Park, IL, and enjoy biking, jogging, yoga, meeting up with friends, and trying new restaurants. I also enjoy baking, cooking, finding fun coffee shops, and cozying up with a good book. I just started guitar lessons and am having fun learning this new skill.
I have been working in the Education field for over 10 years and have a Reading and an ESL endorsement. I look forward to continuing to grow in this profession.
I enjoy learning new instructional strategies and staying up to date on current research for improving student learning. I’m excited to be working for JAM Teaching and to have the opportunity to help students grow!
