Hello everyone! My name is Michelle, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University. Soon after graduating, I began my teaching career as a 7th-grade math teacher at Sam Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, a town I am proud to call my hometown. Teaching in Batavia allowed me to give back to my community through tutoring, where I worked with students ages 5-18 in math and reading across the tri-city area. Now, I’m embarking on a new journey by moving to Chicago and continuing to impact students through tutoring.
Outside of teaching, I am passionate about sports and community involvement. I served as the head volleyball coach at the middle school and assistant varsity softball coach at the high school. When I'm not on the field, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I come from a close-knit family with two siblings, and I also love hiking, traveling, indulging in Chipotle, caring for cactuses, and practicing Yoga and Orangetheory.
As an educator, my mission is to change the negative stigma surrounding math. While I understand it may not be everyone's favorite subject, I believe every student can find success and enjoyment in math class. My goal is to push students to reach their fullest potential and instill in them a belief in their ability to make a positive impact on our world. Education, to me, is empowering, and I am committed to being that positive anchor for my students.I am eager to bring my teaching philosophy of personalized, student-centered learning to JAM Teaching and Consulting and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my students. I look forward to collaborating with the JAM Teaching and Consulting team and families to foster a supportive and enriching learning environment.
