Hello! My name is Mr. Cody, and I’m a dedicated early childhood educator who strongly believes in supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. I teach in a full-day blended preschool classroom and hold a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Early Childhood Special Education from National Louis University. I’m licensed to teach students from birth through second grade and hold an Early Childhood Special Education and LBS1 endorsement.
My professional background includes experience as a general education and special education teacher in preschool classrooms. I completed my student teaching in a second-grade general education classroom, giving me a broad range of experience with early learners. I specialize in foundational reading, phonics, early math, and developing independent functioning skills for young children. I have also worked with Wilson's Fundations and am experienced in IEP interpretation and implementation.
My teaching style is student-centered and holistic. I believe that every child is more than just a learner—they are an individual with unique needs, strengths, and potential. I strive to create a learning environment that supports growth across all areas, not just academics. I take an individualized and differentiated approach when working with students with unique learning needs. I draw from all aspects of a student’s life to create meaningful, personalized instruction that meets their developmental and educational goals.
Outside of the classroom, I’m an avid traveler and nature enthusiast. I’ve explored Ireland, Iceland, Scotland, and Portugal, and love hiking and camping. A fun fact about me is that I’ve visited six national parks across five states and driven the entire Pacific Coast Highway—one of my favorite adventures to date!
One quote that guides my work is: “The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” I’m committed to helping students discover their potential, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
I look forward to working with your child and supporting their growth through engaging, hands-on, compassionate instruction.
