Hi! I’m Ms. Chelsea, a dedicated and experienced educator with over a decade of teaching experience in both suburban and Chicago Public Schools. I specialize in working with upper elementary and middle school students, focusing on reading, math, and executive functioning strategies. I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an M.A. in Special Education from Concordia University.

I spent ten years teaching 5th and 6th grade in Rolling Meadows, IL, and for the past two years, I’ve taught as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programe (MYP) teacher in Chicago. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and independence while developing critical thinking skills that will serve them in and beyond the classroom.

I work with students in grades 3–8 and specialize in personalized instruction tailored to each learner’s strengths. My teaching style is supportive, student-centered, and grounded in the belief that all students can succeed when given the right tools and guidance. I focus on promoting a growth mindset, using technology meaningfully, and helping students take ownership of their learning.

I’m endorsed in middle school language arts, hold a special education endorsement, and am an IB-certified teacher. Whether I’m helping students tackle a challenging text, build their math confidence, or develop better organizational habits, I always meet them where they are.

Outside of teaching, I love walking along the river, solving New York Times puzzles, and spending quality time with my family. A fun fact about me: I travel to Texas about five times a year! I’m also a Google Certified Educator and have basic knowledge of American Sign Language.

A quote that guides my teaching is: “Mistakes are proof that you are trying.” I strive to create a safe and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and celebrating their progress.

I’m available for in-person tutoring in many neighborhoods north of downtown Chicago and am also open to virtual sessions. I look forward to working with your child and supporting their growth every step of the way!
