Hi, I’m Ms. Laura, and I believe that learning should be engaging, confidence-building, and tailored to every student's unique strengths. With a math and science education background and a passion for working with students with learning differences, I specialize in helping elementary and middle school students strengthen their math skills, problem-solving abilities, and executive functioning strategies.
I have over six years of teaching and tutoring experience, including serving as a math and science teacher at Edmondson Elementary School in Nashville and Sand Creek Intermediate School in Indiana. I’ve also worked as a private math tutor and an instructor at the Tennessee Dyslexia Center, providing specialized support for students with ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences. My relationship-driven approach ensures students feel supported, motivated, and empowered to take ownership of their learning.
My teaching style is engaging, personalized, and movement-based—I often incorporate physical activity into lessons to keep learning dynamic and fun. Whether a student needs help mastering foundational math skills, improving problem-solving strategies, or gaining confidence in the classroom, I use research-backed techniques and positive reinforcement to help them achieve their goals.
Outside of tutoring, I love running along the Lakefront Trail, traveling, playing sports, reading with my book club, and trying new restaurants. I’ve even completed three half-marathons, which have taught me the importance of persistence and mindset—lessons I bring into my daily teaching.
I believe, “Every child can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way.” I aim to meet each student where they are, provide the right tools and strategies, and help them build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
