Hi! My name is Ms. Macy! I’m originally from Rockton, Illinois, but I’ve lived in Chicago for nearly ten years. I attended UIC, where I played volleyball and studied in the College of Education. For the past four years, I have been teaching third grade at a school in the Lakeview neighborhood. Working with children has always been a passion of mine, and I knew early on that I wanted to pursue a career in education.
I graduated with honors from UIC’s College of Education with a degree in elementary education and an endorsement in middle grades social science. My student teaching experience took place at an elementary school in Little Village, where I taught a second-grade class and had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students. I later went on to earn my master’s in teaching and learning with a concentration in ESL. Throughout my career, I have prioritized differentiating instruction to meet the unique needs of every student. Understanding different learning styles and adjusting lessons accordingly is at the core of my teaching philosophy.
One of the things I love most about being a teacher is that no two days are ever the same. It’s a career filled with surprises, challenges, and moments of excitement, and I love hearing students’ amazing ideas and realizations. Tutoring gives me the unique opportunity to tailor instruction to each student, ensuring they receive the individualized support they need to thrive.
I am excited for the opportunity to work with students and help them grow into confident, capable learners. Every child deserves a learning experience that meets their needs, and I am committed to making that happen!
