Hi there! My name is Ms. Mariam and I am currently working with Kindergarten students at Reskin Elementary in Glendale Heights. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an ESL endorsement from Lewis University and am going back there to get a Master’s degree in School Social Work.. Once I graduated, I accepted a position at my student teaching school, Stevenson Elementary, as a Title 1 Teacher. In that position, I helped students who struggled with math and reading.. I then completed the school year with 3rd grade students.
One of my favorite sayings is by philosopher Daniel Dennett and he says, “All behavior is a form of communication.” I genuinely feel that this is something I deeply understand, respect, and agree with because of my experiences in the classroom. As an educator, I am constantly researching and learning about the most up-to-date educational, social, and emotional practices to incorporate a mixture of teaching strategies to help the wide variety of students I teach. I am very excited to be working with JAM teaching and having the opportunity to tailor my instructional strategies to meet the needs of each child I work with.
I spent most of my childhood in the city of Chicago attending a public school. I have wanted to work with students in a school environment since I was in 2nd grade.. Teaching was my DREAM JOB, and I’m truly very grateful to be doing it. You can find me staying active outside of the classroom spending time with family and friends and watching my favorite tv show, FRIENDS!
