A JAM Case Study — Advocating for Services That Stick

One of our JAM families came to us with a common concern: their child had a 504 plan, but it wasn’t being followed. The teacher was frustrated. The child was shutting down. The parents felt like they were constantly chasing emails and getting nowhere.

We stepped in with a three-step approach:

  1. Clarify the concern and gather data — what’s happening, what’s missing, and where the child is struggling
  2. Prepare for the meeting — scripting talking points, prioritizing asks, and identifying what’s non-negotiable
  3. Follow-up — ensuring there’s accountability, ongoing communication, and a clear plan for implementation

By centering the conversation on the child’s learning profile and removing blame, the school became more responsive. Adjustments were made, the teacher had clearer tools, and the student started showing up differently.

This wasn’t magic. It was alignment.

If your child has a plan on paper that isn’t translating into real support, JAM can help you prepare, communicate, and advocate in a way that gets attention — and gets results.
