Back to School Tip #3 🍎

3. Prepare things in advance.

Tap into those executive functioning skills, and make a list! Make lots of lists! This is a transitional period where routines are changing. Making a list helps get everyone on the same page so you can kickoff the new school year right.

Pre-pack bags. Make a checklist of things that you need to pack for the first day. Lunch âś… folder âś… picture from home âś… water bottle âś…

See if your teacher lets you drop off school supplies BEFORE the first day of school. This not only helps you lighten your child's literal load, but it also gives you that early access to envisioning the new classroom, potentially seeing their desk, cubby or locker, and gives you both something concrete to talk about/visualize in the upcoming days/weeks.
