You can help build your child's independence by giving them (controlled) choices. Think: will you wear your red sneakers or your black shoes today?
Involving them in deciding what to wear to school or what to have for a snack is a great way to provide options while keeping them within the scope of what you want them to have- or do. Choices empower kids while also keeping them safe. It also starts to build their own independent monologue of how to problem solve- and where to start. Executive functioning skills at their finest 😉
