Gentle Reminder....remain calm 🧘‍♀️

Calming, repetitive, soft songs can be used to help calm a child and an adult in a frustrating situation.  

When there is a situation where the child (partner, colleague) is frustrated .... and I find myself getting frustrated... <Maybe a full blown tantrum on the floor because you served eggs when they hoped for waffles for breakfast>... In order to remain calm I hum quietly or sing a rhythmic easy song (think row, row, row your boat). This keeps my body calm, *sometimes* distracts the child enough to want to hear what I am singing (because I am doing this quietly) and gives me the space to regroup. Bonus, if you are able to console the child in a hug- by humming- they can feel the vibration and it calms them much faster than any "talking words" could do. 😉
