
Language is powerful. Consider how to approach your child when it comes to building routines and breaking down large, sometimes overwhelming, times of the day. To a middle schooler- homework can be a burden. There are so many different classes, assignments and work to keep track of. Help them build up their own executive functioning skills by asking them specific questions. Will you start with math or reading? -takes away the stress of the whole task and helps them start to organize where they will begin. Small language shifts can lead to lifelong independence.
