RTI 101: Tier 2

Tier 2 of the RTI system is when students need extra support to master the skills taught. Specialists, such as reading teachers or reading specialists, may help run small groups to help boost understanding. Reading and math are typically the two subjects that get the most RTI attention. Data is collected from formal and informal assessments to determine if the student will rejoin tier 1. If it's determined the child needs more intensive one-on-one instruction, a plan develops, and the child moves to tier 3.

If your child is going through the RTI process, tutoring is a helpful option to support the acquisition of skills. We are happy to talk through any questions you have about your child's learning and development! JAM Tutors are here for you!
