A great way to help your child prepare for swimming strokes is to have them reach for things in the water. (Think beginning stages of the crawl stroke where you extend your hands out in front of you). Finding things that are marketed to float are often NOT in the pool section of Target, Walmart, etc. Most pool toys are designed to sink so you can dive for them.We suggest using your old pack of alphabet letters in the pool! Not only are they the perfect size for every hand to reach for and grasp- they don't retain water inside (ew, mold) and you can use them for endless language and early literacy "lessons"."Can you find the letter that makes the "b" sound?""Find a letter that is in your name!""Bring me back the first letter in the word "noodle!"And the best part? ... you can interact and "play" this game easily from a nearby lounge chair ... without ever getting wet 🤪
