Try this!

Sometimes when a learner is feeling dysregulated, they shut down and withdraw. When this happens, it is best to notice, gently support, and check in on them. Our intention is not to overwhelm them, but provide them with some tools that they can use when they feel that way.

Check ins allow the child some needed space, and shows them that you care. Sometimes we just need a minute to ourselves to regroup before we can perform our next task. Other suggestions might include giving yourself a hug for sensory input, or taking a big, deep breath and exhaling it slowly.

Our tutors and educational consultants are here to help with these check in strategies!
