Hello! My name is Ali, and I am currently an 8th-grade English teacher at Caruso Middle School in Deerfield. My spark for teaching began after working as a camp counselor for many summers in various roles.
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from The University of Missouri in Secondary Language Arts Education. Once I graduated, I accepted a position as a high school teacher in Columbia, Missouri. While there, I taught High School Civics and a literacy intervention class. I enjoyed working with high school students of all ages! After a year in Missouri, I moved back home to Illinois to be close to family and became a Caruso Bluejay! I am starting my 5th year teaching and finishing my Masters in Literature at Northwestern University.
When I am not teaching or focusing on my studies, I coach Cheerleading and Poms. I have danced since I was young and enjoy choreographing. Additionally, I enjoy seeing plays and musicals, going to museums, skiing, and playing with my adorable puppy, Flash.
In my personal life and as an educator, I continuously strive for excellence and growth. I am passionate about building positive relationships and helping students discover their interests through reading, writing, and fostering collaborative discussions. I strive each day to empower independence and inquiry through hands-on activities and providing student choice. I am very excited to begin my career with JAM teaching and to have the opportunity to work with a wide range of students and build their confidence.
