Hello! My name is Ms. Dorothy, and I am currently a third grade teacher in Chicago Public Schools. I grew up in the western suburb of Oak Park and went to college in St. Paul, Minnesota, where I studied Education and Geography. I became a private tutor for students with differentiated learning needs until I graduated from college and began my teaching career in New York City in 2017. During this time, I went back to school to get my Master’s Degree in Teaching. I moved back to the midwest in 2020 and have been teaching in CPS ever since. This is my sixth year as a teacher, and I am excited to bring my expertise to JAM. I believe that one-on-one tutoring is the best way to address learning gaps and develop student confidence.
When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy listening to podcasts while I walk around the city, throwing pots in the ceramic studio, and cuddling with my two cats, Archie and Pearl.
