Ms. Maggie

Hi! My name is Ms. Margaret, and I’m an early childhood educator with nine years of experience working in Chicago Public Schools. I specialize in teaching preschool through first grade, with a focus on special education, early literacy, foundational math, and independent functioning skills. I’ve taught in general education, special education, and blended early childhood classrooms and am deeply committed to creating supportive, individualized learning experiences for every child.

I hold a B.S. in Early Childhood Special Education with an ELL endorsement from Loyola University Chicago and an M.Ed. in Trauma-Informed Education from Columbia College South Carolina. My teaching is guided by a trauma-informed, relationship-centered approach that emphasizes building trust and fostering independence through structured routines, creativity, and play-based strategies.

I believe that every child learns best when instruction is personalized to meet their specific strengths and needs. When working with students who have unique learning profiles, I get to know them—and their families—so I can plan proactively and respond flexibly to their needs. I use visuals, songs, sensory tools, and manipulatives to make learning accessible and engaging, while incorporating work-break routines and other strategies to support regulation and focus.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy baking, attending music events, and solving various puzzles. I’m also passionate about educational equity and have published articles advocating for more inclusive access to early childhood education.

A favorite quote that inspires my work is from Rita Pierson: “Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be.

”Here’s what one parent shared about their experience: “(School) has a very special place in our hearts because of the care and dedication you gave towards educating B. While the ASD/ADHD makes many days difficult, he is still thriving primarily because you instilled in him a love for learning.”

I’m here to help students grow, feel seen, and love learning—and I can’t wait to partner with your family on that journey.
